What a Fly Fishing Trip in Australia Would Be Like
You will have a local guide who knows what’s biting and where. And more importantly, how to catch those illusive fish on your must catch list. They will be your host for the duration of your stay, unless you add extra days to your vacation of course.
Depending on whether you do a custom private fishing trip or one with a group, you will be well supported.
Most trips include accommodation, food and your fishing guide. Details on fishing gear requirements will be provided or rentals are available.
We can assist with arranging international flights, as well as any additional internal flights you require in Australia.
We will help you understand the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)/Visa process. We’ll also provide insights into all things Australia, as we are an Australian.
And if you want to extend your trip to add additional days to explore more of Australia, that’s entirely possible, just let us know.
This is a sample itinerary only and would be tailored to suite the fishing conditions, where you are traveling and what fish you want to catch.

Some Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Is Fishing Tackle Provided?
This will depend on the Guide that is used. Some guides will have tackle available on a “Pay-If-Lost” basis, whilst others will expect you to bring your own gear and provide a list.
They may also specify the best flies to bring suitable for the trip. There will be fly tiers in Australia who can also provide the right flies, should you wish to purchase them prior to your trip, or have them shipped to your guide.
What is the Best Time of Year To Plan My Fly Fishing Trip to Australia?
Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere and the water temperatures are therefore different to in the USA. There are certain times of year that suit the different fish you may aspire to catch. For example, the best time to fish for Barramundi is March/April, and Giant Trevally (GT) is between April and July. Both of these fish are prevalent in the North of Australia. If it is trout you are interested in then down South is the place to catch those, with the best time of year being February/March. So, a lot of your decision making for your fly fishing vacation is about what you want to catch.
Are Transfers To and From the Airport Included?
Transfers to and from the airport will be included in your fishing trip package. You don’t need to worry about not knowing the area.
Which Australian Fishing Guides Do You Work With?
We currently work with the teams at ‘Aussie Fly Fishers‘ and ‘Trout Tales Tasmania.’ We are in the process of engaging with other guides in different areas of Australia to offer you many different options to choose from.
